Safety spectacles provide protection from light to moderate impact hazards, such as metal or wood chip, Small flying particles and sparks. Safety spectacles with polycarbonate lenses provide greater impact protection than tempered glass lenses. Models are available with side shield protection which should be used whenever there is potential for hazards entering from the side. In areas of severe exposure to flying particles, supplemental protectors such as face shields or cover goggles must be used over your safety spectacles.
Always check with supervisory personnel to be sure you are provided with the proper protection. These polycarbonate lenses are impact resistant but may break under severe impact. Pitting or srstching of polycarbonate lenses could significantly reduce impact resistance.
When pits or scratches reduce vision, the lenses should be replaced.
Damaged frames seriously reduce protection and should be replaced immediately.
